Tingirana are Noosa's only AAA tourism rated 5 star fully serviced apartments. At Tingirana your first stay will be your first of many! Architects, Goodwin & Southwell were awarded a Certificate of Excellence for Tingirana's accessible facilities by Noosa Council, after judging by the Equitable Access Reference Group. There is even a FreeWheeler beach wheelchair available to provide access to the sand and surf.

Access friendly resort

A holiday in Noosa would not be complete without enjoying this famous beach, boardwalk and restaurants. Tingirana Noosa is right on the beachfront and provides access friendly facilities in house with designated wheelchair accessible rooms available.

The resort offers a choice of two types of accessible rooms:

• Room 110 is a one bedroom beachfront delux apartment
• Room 109 is a streetfront studio apartment

The rooms can be let individually or together (if travelling with friends or a carer). Apartment 110 has a spacious interior with full kitchen, lounge room, beach views and laundry facilities. It can accommodate electric and manual wheelchairs, as well as 3 or 4 wheel disability scooters. The streetfront accommodation is a smaller studio style apartment with kitchenette facilities and access to a shared guest laundry.

The apartments have a fire safety door and a security card lock accessible from a wheelchair (set at 1050 mm). Door openings are wide at 820 mm with a lever handle. If renting apartments individually there are two doors to open.

Bedroom

The main bedroom is spacious and wheelchair friendly. Both apartments have king size zip beds (that can be set up as a king or two singles).

• Floor surface: low pile woven matting
• Manoeuvrability: plenty of room for turning a wheelchair
• Mattress style: Quilted ensemble
• Bed height: 550 mm standard - adjustable using bed blocks (available on request)
• Clearance under bed: A hoist can be fitted behind the head of the bed
• Wheelchair access beside bed: The bed and side tables are moveable and there is plenty of room either side of the bed for transfers
• Clothes hanging space: Wardrobe hanger is currently too high for wheelchair reach
• Door opener: sliding lightweight shoji screen for privacy
• Reading lights accessible from bed: Yes
• Phone accessible from bed: Yes
• Television with remote control: Yes
• Security safe available (but not easily reached from a wheelchair)
• Daily room service includes making up bed - housekeeping can also cater to special requirements on request

Bathroom/toilet

Both apartments have a similar bathroom design to meet access requirements and are slightly larger in size than the standard apartment bathrooms:

• Door opens outwards providing more space for manoeuvring
• Door opening 800 mm with level style door handle
• Maneuverability: sufficient room to turn a wheelchair inside bathroom area
• Open shower area with level access and curtain for privacy
• Adjustable height shower chair with arms provided on request
• Horizontal grab rails
• Hand held shower nozzle with dual height attachment
• Separate wheelchair height shower nozzle also fitted with knob controls
• Flick mixer taps
• Vanity basin has a half cabinet to allow room for knees when seated
• Hair drier accessible from wheelchair
• Toilet height 440 mm with grab rail on left

Living and dining room

The combined lounge/dining area is spacious and very accessible. Furnishings include a circular pedestal dining table and comfortable lounge, as well as a cane chair (with firm cushioning and armrests) that is easy to get into and out of. There is also a remote control flat screen television, access to pay TV channels, air conditioning and CD player to enjoy.

Kitchen

The beachfront apartment has a luxury kitchen with water filter. You'll find cutlery, crockery, linen, cooking implements and your electrical appliances have been chosen with quality in mind.

• Lightweight trolley available to assist with carrying meals

Balcony

The beachfront apartment has a private balcony with views out across Noosa Beach and Laguna Bay. Tingirana have a purpose built ramp that provides access to the balcony via a sliding door that opens to 1020 mm). The balcony rails have glass panels so the full view can be enjoyed from a wheelchair or while seated on the lounge or patio furniture. There is also an accessible private bar-b-cue.

Outdoor areas and guest facilities

Tingirana has ramp access from Hastings Street, a glass observation lift from the basement to all levels, spacious lobby, lounge, extensive guest facilities and secure underground accessible parking. The lift is large enough for two power wheelchairs or one scooter. It's all fresh, new, and just waiting for you.

Access to the sun deck and pool is via a Garaventa platform lift. The 20 metre outdoor pool is heated with a "wet edge" design that maintains a flatter more tranquil surface. A water powered pool hoist has recently been installed providing easy access into the water for people with disabilities. Beach towels are available for all guests.

There is also a 'FreeWheeler' beach wheelchair available for people wanting to access the sand and surf. The beach wheelchair has been sponsored by Tingirana Resort on behalf of the Noosa Community. It can be booked (for a gold coin donation) by phoning Tingirana on 07 5474 7400.

The Tingirana Noosa Resort is right on the beachfront, with private access to the boardwalk and beach, as well as ramped access to Hastings Street restaurants and boutiques. Its central location makes it easy to get around and you are right in the heart of the action at Noosa Heads.

Areas that are not accessible

In general, the Tingirana resort offers great accessibility. However, currently the clothes hanger, bathroom towel storage, laundry drier and security safe are a little high for wheelchair users.

Bounce in the surf, laze on the beach. Swim in the pool. Promenade on the boardwalk, or just watch from your balcony. Hit the shops, have a bite in a restaurant, entertain friends, stay out late, gaze at the stars, listen to the surf. Whatever you really want to do.
