Public and school holidays
Public holidays, such as ANZAC Day, Christmas, Easter, New Year are Australia wide, whereas school holidays may vary from state to state. Each state will also have its own special holidays, such as bank holidays and festivals. These periods of the year are often busier, so booking ahead is important. Peak season rates usually apply when booking accommodation.
Queensland (QLD)
Public holidays in Queensland are appointed under the Holiday Act 1983 and include bank holidays, show holidays and special holidays. School holiday dates are approved by the Minister for Education Queensland.
New South Wales (NSW)
NSW School and public holidays will also affect availability of accommodation on the Sunshine Coast, as Noosa is reasonably close and therefore a popular holiday destination for people living in NSW.
Each Australian state runs and manages its own education system. As a result vacation dates may vary between states. There is also a difference between the duration of school holidays for state and independent schools.
